For the last few years i have been going in the Spring for a meeting of an editorial board for a scientific journal that i am on that is based in London. Pretty nice deal, they fly me in for 3 nights but the meeting is only one day so i get some time to be a tourist. Last year I extended the trip and took the wife and kids, including one high school aged boy. I think if you polled them, they would probably say that these were their favorite things:

1. Westminster Abbey. The headphones tour is really quite good. Even my 7 year old loved walking in there.

2. The National Gallery. Actually i was surprised how interested they were in this. Gotta love the the cost too!!

3. Outrageously expensive gelato at Harrod's. I had to keep telling my wife not to do the monetary conversion and just enjoy the moment. I never heard say this before "eat every drop of that ice cream!"" They were probably the best ice cream sundae's that you can purchase for $25...each.

4. London Eye. Very touristy, however if you go up there at dusk you can get some pretty amazing pictures.

Been going for a few years now and gotta agree with your recommendations, but have never had the gelatto before! Gonna have to swallow hard and try it this year.

Always make a side trip to Windsor Castle, amazing history.

The Eye does indeed please...great photo!
